What 25/50/25 means
| Number | What it pays | SC minimum |
|---|---|---|
| 25 | Injuries to one person you hurt | $25,000 |
| 50 | Injuries to everyone you hurt in one wreck | $50,000 |
| 25 | Damage to other people's cars and property | $25,000 |
South Carolina also requires uninsured motorist coverage at the same 25/50/25 minimum. That protects you when the other driver has no insurance. Underinsured motorist coverage, which helps when they don't have enough, is optional and worth asking about. A typical hospital stay after a serious crash can easily pass $25,000.
